City of Stevenson, Washington Salary: $80,000 – $95,000 annually, DOQ

The City of Stevenson is excited to expand our team!  The City of Stevenson is hiring a Permit & Records Manager to lead the City’s permitting and records operations. This is a management-level role responsible for overseeing permit processing, serving as the City’s Public Records Officer, and coordinating consultant reviews for complex land use cases.  We’re looking for a candidate who can manage department operations with limited oversight, ensuring that the City’s permitting and records processes are efficient, transparent, and customer-friendly.

Key Responsibilities
● Manage intake, review, issuance, and tracking of all permits.
● Serve as the City’s Public Records Officer, ensuring compliance with state law.
● Approve minor permits and coordinate outside consultant review for technical or complex cases.
● Provide clear guidance and responsive service to residents, contractors, and developers.
● Prepare agendas, reports, and meeting materials for City boards and commissions.
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in public administration, planning, records management, or related field; OR five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal permitting, planning, or records management.
● At least three (3) years of experience in permitting, planning, records management, or related functions.
● Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
● Master’s degree or advanced municipal experience.
● Knowledge of the Washington State Public Records Act, retention schedules, and open government laws.
● Familiarity with municipal zoning, land use, and permitting processes.
