Planning Commission

Planning Cycle Visual Chart

Appointed by the City Council, the Stevenson Planning Commission’s first purpose is to provide and maintain a quality living environment in the city.

The Planning Commission does this in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council by developing land use plans, development standards, and ordinances for review by the City Council and by reviewing and recommending action on subdivisions and other development proposals.

The Planning Commission also serves the City Council by hearing and deciding conditional use proposals within the City. In the course of fulfilling its duties, the Stevenson Planning Commission serves as a primary public forum where community members can expect receptive ears and a willingness to reexamine plans, procedures, and rules so they address the present needs of the community in independently critical manner.

Meetings

The Planning Commission meets in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 7121 East Loop Road, at 6:00 pm on the second Monday of every month unless there is a Monday holiday.  Commission meetings are open to the public, with opportunity for the public to speak. For all comments and testimony, speakers are asked to limit statements to about three minutes in order to allow as many people as possible the chance to address Commission.
